Annealing 3D Printed Nylon for high temperature resistance? Can it be done?
I bought this over your review and it is crap.
It loses tracking and ruins your work
I would not waste my money on this device again. Haven’t successfully scanned one car part. Get about 3 boops and everything I have done is ruined. By false geometry. People as well. It could not get my dad before he died. It just would not get parts of him just like car parts. I think it is worthless.
How did I not get the notification for this till now!?!?!
I done something similar. However I used Inventor. I defined only, the bearing surfaces then used shape generator for the rest. A little bit of FEA to wrap it up. It looked very organic.
David, Just asking... When will you make the Einstar, otter and raptor comparison video? Then I know if I will wait for it before my decision.
what does the dry shampoo do? xD
a need a standalone ecu for a 3sge 2nd gen celica st
Well done mate, great video+explanation+presentation! Thank you for sharing - NEW SUB 🙏🏻
Sir what software did you used for MultiRubild and Fuse at 7:02
Your tutorial is very good. I had been looking for content like this for some time. I was lucky to find your channel. Thank you very much for sharing and good luck on your channel!
How about the regular state check? This ecu respond with obd protocol?
What are you using in place of the GOM software now? It seems to have been turned into ZEISS INSPECT Optical 3D and is no longer free, as far as I can tell.
Was literally trying to find an answer to that tonight for an upcoming video…. I’ve been turfed out of my account for GOM inspect too….you gotta pay! There are other options for free, not quite as accurate or simple…. Video coming soon 😉
@@MakingforMotorsport I looks like YT may have removed my previous comment, so if you missed it, I found the 2019 version of GOM still hosted on CNET. And it works!
@@ChuckMcKnightwow…. Well done, I pulled my old computer out to use the previous software… and once I signed in it bricked it…
@@MakingforMotorsport Oof. Well, I've opened up the 2019 software on my modern PC a few times now, and so far so good! No account or anything needed either.
lol, so get you! The markers kill the enthusiasm
thanks for the reviews. checked all of them but wondered if you had any thoughts on the ferret pro. (looking for a budget-friendly portable scanner for some motorcycle fairing-diy and bits and bobs) cheers
Not tried the Ferret Pro, just rounding out a review of the Otter tho… Creality seem to have upped their game!
@@MakingforMotorsport Thanks, that's the bigger brother of FerretPro. I like the software update too - Looking forward to your review mate!
Great channel and video! I am thinking about printing my own inlet for ITBs as well so this was spot on!
I’m just getting started with a Speedunio unit. Thanks for the video
Speedweiner
I dont understand electronics or Arduinos or anything. But can i wire up a random gas pedal and throttle body to this ECM and not worry about anything else on the ecm? All i need is a throttle body to move with the gas pedal
the CR01 scan looked the best imo in the first scan, but smaller parts really is its weakness... im looking at the creality ferret scanner tbh, advertized 0.1mm accuracy aswell
Was that a nylon 6 or 12?
otter and raptor kill all this scanner
The Otter is good, just finishing the review now… it’s about equal (or slightly better) than the POP3 and the Einstar but in one unit…. Raptor test coming soon!
Brilliant an you've got the Wallace and Gromit nervous grin/grimace down pat complete with trembling hands - love it!
Now make one for the 2.0 TDI. I want that blow off valve.
Do you make shafts for customers?
What's the name of the scanner?
This is the best Fusion Tutorial I have run across. Thank you.
Have you seen the new Creality Scan-Raptor? It has a seven beam blue laser and NIR hybrid set up. Suposibley it can scan objects from 5mm to 2000mm. It cost like US$1800… no real reviews as of yet. 🇦🇺🤜🏼🤛🏼😎🍀☮️
Hi Steve… just rounding out a review on the Ottter and the Raptor will be next after that…. If the Ottee is anything to go by the Raptor will be a beast…
Oh you bloody beauty!! I was all in on buying an Einstar after watching your review. I was just about to pull the trigger, and then I seen the Raptor, but there’s no real reviews on it. Well there’s one review, if you could call it that. Man I can’t wait to see your review as I know you have such an extensive background using a good array of 3d scanners. I mean heck, laser scanners are usually $15,000.
@stevesloan6775 right now the Otter is probably the better scanner than the Einstar tbh. The Raptor with the laser lines is no doubt amazing for the money but I worry it’s gonna be overkill for the home gamer and the NIR mode may suffer compared to Einstar and Otter…. Just waiting for Creality to sort a problem and I’ll be right on it! 👍
It spins me out to hear you say the Otter is better than the Einstar. I think I might have to stop ignoring the reviews for the Otter scanner. Fingers crossed the Raptor has just as good if not better NIR scanning functionality, and the laser scanning takes it to the next level. I will be mainly using it for Motorsport. I could so use it right now, to help with some front suspension geometry, that I think is bent and twisted. I just picked up a new workstation that has dual 18 core Xeon’s and 384gig of 6 channel memory. It should be a beast for editing 3d scan data in ZBrush. Thank you so much for your awesome content….Very very inspirational to me. 🇦🇺🤜🏼🤛🏼🍀☮️😎
Are you still using this scanner today? It would be great to hear your long term experience
Excellent video. I am looking for the 3D scanner that would be optimal for making busts, which I will print with bronze filament. A suggestion? - Thanks.
You should look into the Creality Raptor scanner. That looks like the next big beast for little money
They have just sent me both the Raptor and the Otter… both seem to be proper bits of kit 👍
@@MakingforMotorsport can't wait for your review on it. Own a PEEL 3d scanner myself. It's amazing piece of kit with the reverse engineering PEEL.CAD but I'm missing the ability for scanning smaller parts. Maybe the raptor could be it. Loved all your reviews so far. You made me buy 2 Neptunes too.. you make me poorer god damnit 🤣🤣🤣
So as of 11/13/2023 this software is no longer available but you you have to download the application and register before finding this out. even though it says there's a free 14 day trial there's not.
what mode did you use on scanning the Mini ?
Are you using hydro or cable handbrake? Also, are the cars equipped with LSD’s or are they running open diffs?
Please stop th-fronting, it makes you sound lazy and/or stupid.
slowly moving project of the slow moving car... my god that sound familiar to me...
Hello, very nice videos! I'm thinking of getting one of those (range 2 or Einstar) for a camping van project. Do you think it can handle a scan of the inside of a van? I want the scan as a basis for designing the furniture. Thanks!
This is perfect! Thanks
Looks for a job for hockey pucks!
does anyone have the gom free installer?
As soon as you were excited about the 3D printed TPU bushes I was smiling in myself: next time he'll show us how he 3D prints the springs too 🤣
I'd love to "go to" Demon Tweeks. Been buying parts off them for near 10 years. One of the first places to ship to Australia
Thanks!
You could use elastomer to make repeatable use moulds and start selling it!
My Prius has 15" wheels, another Prius has 16".
255 filament will just not be strong. you want some that melts and fuses together at 300 so its proper strong if exposed to heat.
Looking forward to the video on converting the billies to coilovers.
Directly printing bushes is such a fantastic improvement, please do let us know how they stand up to UK roads! On a side note, loving the videos as usual!
If you have to do so much mesurements, why do you need a 3d Scanner then?
It’s easy to measure in 1 direction, or along a single, pre-existing plane. But to measure the centre of a circle in 3D space separate from anything else… that’s very difficult indeed… but not with a 3D scanner….
hmm, did you take off at any point with those bushes in the rear? It maybe that they had a harder life as teh suspension slams down onto them. E&H memorial rally in a few weeks, entrys live yesterday, do it!!! I am... in my compact
Haha… the car has been slightly airborne, but not with those bushes, one steady 12car and they were toast… the printed ones have stood up so far… I did a Chelmsford MC targa a few weeks ago (Javalins Jumbo), was great fun, but every bush in the rear is fucked, so that’s all coming off, plus I totally pushed my luck with a sump guard so that all needs sorting… not going anymore events where I am holding back on the rough stuff… I’d love to do a Road Rally again… nothing like the smell of mud on a hot exhaust and a pint at 4am 😁😁😁
